HERSANA is a leading expert on violence against femmes and the experiences of Black femmes affected by or at risk of gender-based violence, staffed by specialists in the field. We deliver dynamic, trauma-informed workshops that give young people the knowledge, language, and confidence to build healthy relationships, recognise harmful behaviours, and seek support early. Our sessions are culturally responsive, intersectional, and grounded in real frontline experience supporting young people affected by gender-based violence across London and the UK.
Schools, Colleges, Universities
Empowering schools, colleges and universities to support young people with confidence. HERSANA’s trauma-informed, culturally responsive workshops equip students and staff to build healthy relationships, spot harmful behaviours, and create safer, more inclusive education environments.
Our workshops are interactive, age-appropriate and pop-culture relevant. Students explore healthy relationships, consent, digital boundaries, online misogyny, harmful practices, emotional wellbeing and peer-on-peer abuse. Dedicated boys-only sessions focus on healthy masculinity, respect, emotional literacy and how young men can contribute to safer school cultures. All sessions follow safeguarding best practice, with clear content notes, opt-out options and safety parameters.
We provide immediate, confidential support through post-session drop-ins. Students can speak privately with HERSANA practitioners to ask questions, share concerns or access help right after a workshop. Alongside this, we offer staff CPD training to strengthen trauma-informed practice, improve responses to disclosures and increase confidence in supporting Black and minoritised femmes.
Our approach is collaborative, integrated and holistic. We work closely with Designated Safeguarding Leads to ensure disclosures are handled safely and promptly and safeguarding processes are seamless. Optional parent/carer workshops build wraparound support, so schools are safer, more informed and better equipped to support all young people -especially those facing cultural, racial or gendered barriers to help-seeking.
