Fundraising Ideas

Every act of fundraising is an act of resistance, solidarity, and hope.

By raising funds for HERSANA, you are directly supporting Black women and femmes impacted by gender-based violence across the UK. You’re helping us deliver life-saving services, create healing spaces, and challenge the systems that continue to fail our communities. Whether you're organising a sponsored walk, a coffee morning, or a school-wide event, your efforts will help ensure that Black survivors are seen, believed, and supported - on their own terms.

Let’s build a future free from violence, together.

Tips for Fundraising Success

Whether it’s your first time fundraising or you're a seasoned pro, these tips will help you make the most impact and raise vital funds for HERSANA

You don’t have to be a professional fundraiser to make a real difference. Just bring your voice, your heart, and your community. We’ll support you every step of the way.

1. Set a Goal

Be clear about how much you want to raise - it motivates people to help you reach (or beat!) your target.

2. Tell Your Why

Share why you’re fundraising for HERSANA. Personal stories and passion are powerful. They move people to donate and support.

3. Use Social Media

Post regular updates, photos, countdowns, and videos to keep your fundraiser visible. Don’t forget to tag us and use hashtags like #FundraiseForHERSANA and #SayHerNameUK.

4. Make It Visual

Use posters, flyers, or Instagram graphics to draw attention to your cause. (Check out our Fundraising Toolkit for ready-to-use materials.)

5. Ask and Ask Again

Don’t be shy! People want to support you, they just need a reminder. Follow up with a friendly nudge or thank-you message.

6. Get People Involved

Fundraising is more fun with others. Invite friends, classmates, or colleagues to join in or help spread the word.

7. Thank Your Supporters

A simple thank-you goes a long way. Show your appreciation with a message, shout-out, or update on how their support helps survivors.

8. Share the Impact

Let people know where the money is going. Remind them that every pound raised helps fund therapy, legal advocacy, safe housing, education programmes, and more for Black femme survivors.
